Effective 21 September 2026
This policy explains what ignyte collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it. ignyte is operated by Rishi Jagarlapudi, an individual, in New York. Questions: privacy@ignyte.cc.
ignyte is for adults in the United States. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
1. The short version
ignyte is a tutor, and a tutor learns about you. To teach you, it stores what you said you want to learn, what you said you already know, everything you type to it, how well it judged your answers, and — this is the unusual one — a written record of the specific things it believes you have misunderstood.
That is a more intimate record than most software keeps. It exists because personalised teaching is impossible without it. Section 3 says exactly what is in it, section 5 says who else sees it, and you can read all of it or delete all of it at any time from Settings.
2. Information you give us
Your Google account. You sign in with Google. Google tells us your name, email address, profile picture, and an opaque account identifier. We do not ask Google for access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or contacts, and we could not read them if we wanted to.
We do not keep Google access or refresh tokens. Those are discarded at sign-in rather than stored. Nothing in ignyte has ever used them, and a long-lived credential that nothing uses is a liability rather than a feature.
What you want to learn. The goal you type ("I want to understand…") and the optional background you write about yourself. These are free text. Whatever you put in them — your job, your studies, your health, your finances, why the subject matters to you — is stored verbatim, because the course is regenerated from them.
Your conversation with the tutor. Every message you send and every reply, kept in full and indefinitely, so the tutor has continuity across sessions.
3. Information ignyte creates about you
This is the part worth reading carefully.
Generated coursework. Syllabi, lesson scripts, written lessons, scene descriptions, and the narrated audio and video files rendered from them. These are derived from your goal, so they can be personal even though a machine wrote them.
Mastery estimates. For each learning objective in each lesson, ignyte stores
a score from 0 to 1, a confidence value, and evidence — a short
quote or paraphrase of your own reasoning that justified the score.
Misconceptions. When the tutor concludes you have misunderstood something,
it stores a record of it: a label, and a detail field describing what you
appear to believe and why it is wrong, along with whether it has since been
resolved.
We want to be direct about what that amounts to. Taken together, these records are a stored, written, timestamped profile of how a named person thinks about particular subjects, including their specific errors. It is kept because remediation targeted at your actual misunderstanding is the whole point of the product, and "wrong, try again" is not teaching. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers, not used to train AI models, and not used for any purpose other than teaching you. You can read it in your data export and destroy it by deleting your account.
Usage records. Timestamped notes that you created a course, generated a lesson, or started a video render. These enforce the plan limits and are what stops a single account spending without bound. They are deliberately kept separate from the courses themselves, so deleting a course does not erase the record that it was made.
Consent records. Which version of these documents you accepted, when, and the IP address and browser you accepted from. We are required to be able to show what you agreed to.
4. Technical information
Session cookie. ignyte sets one cookie: your sign-in session. It is strictly necessary — without it you cannot stay signed in — so it does not require consent and there is no cookie banner. ignyte has no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers, and no session recording. If that ever changes, this policy changes with it and you will be asked.
Server logs. Our hosting records ordinary request logs — IP address, timestamp, URL, status — and keeps them for roughly 30 days for debugging and abuse investigation.
5. Who else sees your information
To generate a course, your text is sent to third parties. This is not optional and it is the most important disclosure here.
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude) | Your goal, your background, your lesson history, and every message in your tutor conversation | Writing syllabi and lessons; running the tutor; judging your answers |
| ElevenLabs | Lesson narration scripts (generated text, not your own writing) | Turning lessons into speech |
| Google Cloud (Run, Storage) | Everything, as the host — plus your rendered audio and video files | Running ignyte; storing media |
| Neon | Everything in the database | The database |
| Stripe | Your name, email, billing address, and card details, which go to Stripe directly and never reach us | Taking payment |
| Google (sign-in) | Confirms who you are | Authentication |
Each of these processes data on our instructions under its own terms. We do not permit them to use your content to train their models, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising — under any definition, including California's.
We will disclose information if legally compelled, or where necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety. If ignyte is ever sold or moved into a company, your data moves with it under this policy, and we will tell you.
6. Where your data is held
In the United States. Do not use ignyte if you need your data held elsewhere.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account content — courses, lessons, media, conversations, mastery, misconceptions — until you delete it or close your account.
- Usage records — up to 90 days.
- Consent records — for as long as your account exists, and for a period afterwards where we may need to show what was agreed.
- Billing and tax records — kept after account deletion, because we are required to keep them. Invoices and payment records stay with Stripe for the retention periods tax law requires (generally several years). This is the one category deleting your account does not remove, and we cannot waive it.
- Server logs — roughly 30 days.
8. Your choices
From Settings, at any time and without asking us:
- Export everything as a single JSON file — your profile, courses, lessons, conversations, mastery scores, misconceptions, consent records, and usage.
- Delete your account. This removes your profile, all courses and lessons, all media files, all conversations, all mastery and misconception records, and cancels any subscription. It is permanent and we cannot restore it. Billing records are retained as described above.
To delete a single course rather than the whole account, email support@ignyte.cc and we will remove it and its videos. Or email privacy@ignyte.cc and we will do any of the above for you.
If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing. The first three are the buttons above; the fourth is unnecessary, because we do neither. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
If you are elsewhere in the United States — Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and others have comparable laws — the same controls satisfy them, and the same email address reaches a human.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting and database providers. Access to production data is limited to the operator. Rendered media is served only to the account that owns it, through an authenticated route, and is marked private so it cannot be cached and replayed to anyone else.
We should be honest about scale: ignyte is run by one person. We take security seriously and have designed against the obvious failure modes, but we cannot promise perfect security, and you should not store anything in a course goal or a tutor conversation that would seriously harm you if it were exposed.
If you find a vulnerability, please email security@ignyte.cc. We will not pursue anyone who reports a problem in good faith and does not access other people's data.
10. Children
ignyte is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, email privacy@ignyte.cc and we will close it and delete the data.
11. Changes
Every version of this policy is published with its date and stays permanently available at its own link. If we make a material change — a new subprocessor, a new category of data, a new purpose — we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in.
